Home is a feeling
Home is more than bricks and mortar. Home is in our hearts. Home restores us. This is why refugees and displaced people living through some of the worst crises imaginable find the resolve to create a home again. But this is only possible when families have the basics to create a home, like shelter and warmth.
Syrian refugee Ghasiba is struggling to keep her shelter warm and dry.
In Jordan, winter temperatures drop to below freezing. For Ghasiba, keeping herself and her grandchildren warm is everything. Will you help refugees like Ghasiba bring warmth back into her home again?
“We didn’t have a bukhari [heater] before…a bukhari is much better and much warmer.”
Afghan farmer, Naqibullah’s family home was destroyed in the recent conflict. Supported by UNHCR, he and his family now have a new shelter and heater, which will help keep them warm this winter. Help other families like Naqibullah’s as the cold weather sets in.
“Nobody could even think that we’d need to build two houses during one life span.”
Svitlana and her family in Ukraine returned home one day to find it completely destroyed. Please give today to support families like Svitala’s who have lost everything.
Over the coming months, hundreds of thousands of refugees and displaced families will face sub-zero temperatures. UNHCR is on the ground providing lifesaving aid and essentials to help families survive the freezing cold winter months.
