More than 117 million people remain displaced worldwide with over 70% of refugees being hosted by low and middle income countries.
With your support, UNHCR could be where the need was greatest. We helped fund emergency relief in Sudan, Myanmar and Afghanistan and supported refugees and internally displaced people around the globe to rebuild their lives and communities.

Refugee Week 2025
“This year for Refugee Week, my message is simple: give people the space to speak when the world isn’t falling apart. Too often, refugees are only asked to tell their stories in the wake of trauma. But our lives are bigger than tragedy.”

Winter relief: Ukraine, Afghanistan and Syria
The generosity of our donors helped UNHCR provide support including shelter, insulation, thermal blankets and heaters for displaced families during the long, cold winter months.
Sudan emergency and operation
Thanks to individual donors and partners, UK for UNHCR helped fund over £1.4 million of relief for people fleeing violence in Sudan. This included shelter, food, family reunification and identity documentation.
A generous legacy gift
The compassion of UK donors and the impact of their Gifts in Wills continued to help families forced to flee. In the Democratic Republic of the Congo and globally these gifts helped provide refugees with shelter and protection.
Returning to Syria
With your support, UNHCR was able to support refugees returning to Syria, as well as internally displaced people returning home, with transport, house repairs and legal aid for the replacement of lost identity and property documents.
